When Andrea moved back to Colorado upon finishing her degree in Arizona, Scott's degree was winding down in Fort Collins. We met at a Halloween party and started seeing more and more of each other through our many mutual friends. From there, you know how it goes: we caught eyes from across the room, and BOOM, a few confusing months later we were dating and loving every minute of getting to know the weird and wonderful partners we found in each other. We started out dating long-distance, with Andrea working on farms on the Western Slope and Scott continuing his education in Boulder. Slowly, we moved closer and closer to each other over the years, eventually moving in together in Loveland and settling down with our cat, Cordelia.
We hadn't been living together long when Scott knew he was ready to propose. After covertly obtaining Andrea's ring size and preferences, he conspired with a local jeweler to design the perfect ring. With ring in hand (unbeknownst to Andrea), we travelled to Grand Junction to ride our bikes up the beautiful Colorado National Monument. Scott spent most of that ride thinking of what to say before popping the "Big Question." Andrea spent most of the ride trying to get enough air into her lungs to keep riding. We had arranged to recover from the long bike ride with an overnight stay at Orvis, our favorite hot springs, also on the Western Slope. Orvis is special to us, because we used to visit the hot springs when Andrea was living in Montrose. After an evening of soaking, eating delicious Thai food, and playing some favorite board games, Andrea still didn't suspect that this was more than a really wonderful weekend away. Late that night, in a secluded hot spring pool, Scott asked Andrea to marry him a few yards from the spot where we first said "I love you," several years before. She answered, "Of course I will!" and we haven't stopped being thrilled about the prospect of our lives together since that moment.
