I worked ALOT when I met Scott, but I always took off the Saturdays that I had the boys. So, we’ll call it fate that on this particular Saturday, I picked up an extra shift and him and Zy landed in my section, at Table 54. I remember turning the corner, seeing them sitting there, and thinking how handsome he was in his button down shirt and matching hat. He ordered the same thing he does to this day. A combo appetizer with extra extra BBQ sauce, none of the other weird sauces, and no chives. Because don’t bring that man anything green or resembling a vegetable. Heather, one of the girls I worked with, commented how cute he was and how I should leave him my number. That was not my style at all, so I laughed and said no way. But then I told her that if he was to leave me his, I would call him. So, when I left him his ticket, I left a note that said ‘PS YOU’RE REALLY CUTE’ For motivation, you know. ( knowing me there was probably also a heart scribbled on there too ) They got ready to leave as I was standing at the computer putting in an order. Zylus ran over to hand me the book. I smiled, he smiled, and there it was. The phone number that changed my life.
Let’s start by saying that I told him the night I met him ( cause let’s be honest, I used his number quick ) that I was in no way looking for anything serious. So here I was.. four days later, getting ready for a date with this man I had met for like 30 seconds. I tried to convince myself that it was ridiculous. I tried on outfit after outfit. I sent pictures to my friends and got votes on what I should wear. But, I remember telling my mom that something was telling me that I should go, so that’s what I did. We had pizza at Carraba’s, some awkward first date conversation, and some laughs at Jumanji. It was one of those seven degree kind of winter nights, so when he drove me back to my car, I wasn’t too eager to get out. Somehow our awkward first date conversation turned into us sitting in his car for hours talking about any and everything. And then he kissed me. And that was all it took. We were inseparable from that moment on.
Anyone who knows me, knows that Christmas time is my absolute favorite time of the year. He took me downtown to the Christmas tree lighting earlier that month and knew how much I loved being downtown. I loved all the lights, all the people, stopping in all the little shops, and the huge Christmas tree. Christmas downtown is magical. So, on this particular date night, we ended up back there. We went and ate at Downtown Brewery, and went to Mast General Store for my favorite candy. ( if you haven’t had the grapefruit gummies, you’re missing out friends ) Then, we walked around and looked at all the lights. It was our second stop at the Christmas tree, talking about how he liked the colored lights and I liked the white ones, when he turned around and said ‘I’m not going to make you wait any longer’ I didn’t give him time to ask. This man, standing by this beautiful Christmas tree, holding what I knew HAD to be the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen, was perfect. He says I hugged him SO tight. I probably did. He finally broke away, got down on one knee, grabbed the wrong hand ( don’t worry I switched them ), and asked me to marry him. Now here we are, putting together this wedding. Planning our life together and loving every minute of it. We’re so happy to be sharing it with you all.
