Laura had moved across the country to LA to pursue a career in TV. She had gone to school, gone on road trips, snagged a dope job on Treehouse Masters and made a new life for herself on the West Coast. When she went to the Chimney Sweep in Sherman Oaks with a few friends that May night in 2017, she fully intended to have a few drinks, lots of laughs and then move on with the rest of her weekend - she was preparing to go to London a few days later and she was PUMPED. David was living in San Diego. He had moved there to be near his daughter from a previous relationship. He was working his civilian job along with being a sergeant in the Army reserves. David went out to Chimney Sweep that night with his friends to unwind - his friend Danny picked the spot. David saw Laura from across the bar (it's not that big of a place). She looked like she was having a good time, so he decided he wanted to be a part of it. He jokingly told her he was 22. She teased him relentlessly. A bond was formed. On their first official date, they went out for sushi and David was so excited that he forgot to pay the parking meter before going inside. When they came back out and realized their mistake, they were surprised to find that they had not been issued a parking ticket. In LA. A place where Laura has since received a parking ticket even when she HAD fed the meter.
