Foshay Museum and Observation Deck

Foshay Museum and Observation Deck

821 South Marquette Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55402
, (612) 215-3700

We had one of our first dates here and this is where Nathan proposed! The Foshay Tower is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the Twin Cities. Utilities magnate Wilbur Foshay built this endearing homage to the Washington Monument in 1929. At 447 feet housing 32 stories, the Foshay Tower was the tallest building in the Midwest for 48 years. Visit the museum to uncover the remarkable story behind this unique skyscraper and its eccentric creator. And view the city from the outdoor Observation Deck on the 31st floor.

Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

725 Vineland Place, Minneapolis, MN 55403

We've been on countless dates here. When the weather is nice, it's a great place to spend time outside enjoying the art! Since opening in 1988, the Garden has welcomed millions of visitors, showcasing works from the Walker Art Center’s renowned collections of modern and contemporary art in the setting of an urban park. The Garden is a partnership between the Walker and the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board, a national award-winning park system. The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is free, requires no tickets for admission, and is open from 6 am to 12 midnight every day.

Gai Noi (Restaurant)

Gai Noi (Restaurant)

1610 Harmon Place, Minneapolis, MN 55403

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the entire Twin Cities! There is fantastic rooftop seating and indoor greenhouse like seating on the top level. Ask to be seated there! Gai Noi, short for khao gai noi, is a type of short grain glutinous rice emblematic of the northern Xieng Khouang regions of Laos, where chef Ann and her family are from. So important is sticky rice in Lao culture, most Laotians refer to themselves as ‘luk khao niew’. Honoring this reference and cultural significance, Gai Noi hopes to be a binding agent for the community and connection to a heritage, culture, and lifestyle worlds apart from our own; a place to gather, share, celebrate, and nourish, coming as you are and being welcomed as luk khao niew. Please note that Gai Noi serves the community exclusively on a walk-in basis, with the exception of private event bookings, and does not accept reservations. Note: For parties of 5 or more, we kindly ask that your entire party be present before being seated.
