Our Love Story

Laura’s Version: Austin and I knew each other but were dating other people at the time. I always thought he was cute, but wasn’t really sure about this mystery guy that I saw cheering loudly at NC State games. After a couple years and a relationship, Austin and I re-connected. We started talking every waking moment we had. He took the long way home from work to make sure he had service to talk extra (shoutout to Davie County for the service issues). After having to cancel on our first date due to COVID and him still sending me food so we could do it virtually (thanks, Dominos Delivery) I started seeing a side of him I’ve never known (I’ll get back to that). After our virtual date, I had a game night with friends and didn’t clarify it was co-ed. Austin stayed in the Walmart parking lot for 2 hours trying to avoid crashing what he thought was a girls night. After bringing us pizza and me convincing everyone he was a (cute) pizza delivery guy, we really hit it off. In the spirit of chaotic date nights, he ended up getting stuck in the snow date night #3. After that, I had a surprise date to Davie County and the rest is history. I don’t think people truly know the side of Austin I have gotten to see and love. Austin is the most intentional person, he’s intentional with his words, his actions and the way he loves. When my grandpa died, I did work in Davie County (virtual work days) and he sent flowers to right where I was sitting while he was at work. Another thing that I get to see is his patience. Who would’ve thought someone could sit and semi-listen to me tell the same story seven times for an hour? Austin does. But my favorite thing about Austin is his love for Jesus. I could give many examples about the way that he loves the Lord but I’ll leave my section with this: what a beautiful example of the Lord’s love for us that he brought two people with different kinds of tough hurt, broken trust and imperfect pasts and brought us together forever. Austin's Version: I'll spare everyone the retelling of the story on how we met because everything Laura said was spot on. However, she did leave out how she is HARD to catch. Laura has an uncanny ability to talk herself into things, as well as talk herself right back out of said things. You can start to imagine how this would be difficult from my perspective when I am trying to pursue her, right? Once I was finally able to break through into Laura's life as a constant figure, the rest was history. We did spend every waking moment talking to one another - well, she was talking, and I was listening - and I believe this is what helped progress our relationship to the point where it is today. Through some tough early conversations, I could tell that her intentions were pure, and they were similar to mine. Laura wears her personality on her sleeve, and when your personality is full of love, care, laughter, and chocolate, that is something the world should be honored to see. Laura loves very intentionally, which is something I admire about her. She is constantly putting others before herself, even when it isn't convenient. She is humble in the Lord and spends her days shining that light onto others. I cannot put into words how excited I am to marry Laura, and to steal a quote from her father, I am going to become the luckiest man in the world on March, 11th 2023.

For all the days along the way
