When are the RSVPs due?

Answer

We are asking that our guests (whether you are able to attend or not), RSVP their choice as soon as possible. This will allow us to plan and prepare for the evening, and cater as best as we can to ourselves and those celebrating with us! RSVPs are required, and we ask that only regrets are submitted after April 25, 2018.

You may RSVP via the tab above, or give us a call! The phone number we ask you to use is listed in the return address on your envelope. We appreciate your RSVPs, and hope that you can attend.

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Formal attire is requested. While we don't want to scare anyone off with this attire, we do want to invite you to dress up with us and enjoy the evening! **No blue jeans please!

Where is the reception taking place, and what time should we arrive?

Answer

We are welcoming our guests at Homewood Montford in the historic Montford district of Asheville (about a mile from downtown). We will be making our entrance around 7:15, so we ask that guests arrive between 6:45-7:15pm. Please see their site below for information on the venue. http://www.mybelovedhomewood.com/

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Due to the intimate nature of our venue, we ask that you reach out to us if you wish to bring a date not already listed on your RSVP - [top right tab]. We will do our best to accommodate requests.

Will parking be available?

Answer

Yes! The venue has parking behind the building, as well as along the street. We also suggest keeping in mind that taxi services, Uber and Lyft are available in Asheville. We want all of our friends and family to get home safely!

Will there be food and drinks served? What if I have a diet restriction?

Answer

If you know us, you know we love food! Since this is a later reception, we will be serving hors d'oeuvres in the bar room. We will be having an open bar with beer, wine, hard cider and champagne. Bar areas will be located inside and on the front steps! There will be sodas and water in addition. Allowances will be made for those with dietary restrictions.

Will there be dancing/entertainment?

Where are you registered?

Answer

If you do wish to give a gift, there is a registry tab listed above! We have options for contributing to our house fund (we plan to buy a home around October of 2018), give to our honeymoon fund, pitch in toward larger purchase items, and other wish list gifts as well. Do you have a hotel room block?

Answer

At this point, we do not. We want to encourage our guests to use Airbnb or VRBO. This will put revenue back into the local community, and supports Asheville staying Asheville. Please see our "Travel" tab above for those websites, along with hotel options. We do suggest that guests book EARLY, as this is a holiday weekend.

Why have a private ceremony?

Answer

While we love and appreciate all of our guests, we feel a private ceremony, limited to our immediate family and bridal party, will allow us to keep our focus on God and each other as we begin our journey as a married couple. Please join us at our reception at Homewood Montford at 7pm, Monday, May 28th 2018 to celebrate our marriage.

What do you both do in Raleigh, NC?

Answer

Michael works for the Open Compute Project, a foundation focusing on creating open-source hardware for datacenter infrastructure. Lauren graduated from NC State University in 2017, and wished to stay in the area. She got a job at Duke University as a research technician in a breast cancer lab focusing on DCIS.

Question

Everyone's favorite question: you have the wedding bands, so when are you going to have kids?

Answer

We both want to focus on our careers for a few (FEW) years before we have kids, and are happy taking care of our 9 year old Cocker Spaniel, Miss Sophie.
