June 2011: Tyler and Cassidy first met when they both attended a state FFA conference. Over the next two years, we saw each other at various FFA and Ag Ed events. By the fall of 2013 we were good friends, both studying Ag Ed at Penn State-University Park and being in multiple clubs together. November 22, 2013: A few days before, Tyler and Cassidy were walking back to their respective houses together after a club meeting. Tyler stopped by the in front of the IST bridge and asked Cassidy out on a date. For our first date, we went to Olive Garden. Afterwards, we stopped at the Creamery for hot chocolate and had a pleasant evening walking around in the snowy weather.
Tyler suggested going to visit his sister and their cousin at Penn State because we could walk around campus and take pictures. While walking up Burrowes Street, Tyler suggested stopping at a bench near the IST bridge to get a picture together. He began explaining the significance of the spot to Jadyn and Gianna, as it was the place he asked Cassidy out for their first date. He then got on one knee and proposed. A group of passerbys gathered and clapped when Cassidy said, "yes." Because of Tyler's planning, we were able to have plenty of pictures and video courtesy of Jadyn and Gianna. Afterwards, we took pictures around campus and got Creamery ice cream to celebrate.
Tyler and Cassidy were married in a small, private ceremony on October 2, 2021 at Christ Lutheran Church in Elizabethtown, PA. During the planning process, the Covid-19 situation was very unpredictable. In an effort to ensure the safety of our loved ones, we decided to split the ceremony and reception into two events. If you'd like to see photos of our ceremony day, you can find them here: https://emilybroomephotography.pixieset.com/theschaeffer/ We are looking forward to being able to celebrate with everyone at our reception!
