We went to Lakeland elementary school together and played mythology based pretend games everyday at recess. We were apart of the same little friend group all the way through 6th grade.

Mason moved to Traverse City West Middle school at the end of the 6th grade school year. Mason and Emma continued to see each other once in a while at musicals or choir events. Although Emma and Mason where still both friends with the Lakeland friend group, they weren't in direct contact with each other. Mason's mom (Deanna Sayer) was a high school teacher during this time. Emma's freshman and sophomore year she was supposed to be in Mrs. Sayers class, but life had other plans. Mason and Emma's sophomore year of high school they were both set to attend the same school trip to Greece over thanksgiving break again, life had other plans. After bouncing in and out of each other's lives and barely missing one another for 6 years, it was time for college.

Mason and Emma had totally unintentionally registered for the same world mythology class at Northwestern Michigan College their freshman year. Although shocked at the odds of being in the same class, neither of them were shocked that they both still had a curiosity for mythology. After that class Mason and Emma continued to run into each other on campus and spend more and more time together. The started dating in the beginning of their sophomore year at NMC.
