Tyler and Candice were set up by Tyler's aunt Angela who lives in Owasso, OK. She happened to be attending Life.Church on a weekend Candice was leading worship. She reached out to a mutual acquaintance she had with Candice in the band to see if he (shoutout to Nick Mendez!) could get the down low on Candice and her single status. Once she learned Candice was indeed single, she began her work on Facebook messenger and reached out to set up this seemingly perfect match. Soon after, Tyler and Candice exchanged numbers and began messaging. They both knew early on that this was something special. It was in the way they communicated so openly, could joke around about anything and could effortlessly talk for hours. In fact, their first phone call was over 8 hours long! Shortly after their first phone call, they had their first official date! Tyler traveled all the way from Dallas to Tulsa to take Candice to eat at one of her favorite places, Bohemia Pizza. They both knew after that night they wanted to eat pizza together for the rest of their lives!

As Candice was preparing for a busy weekend of serving at church for Easter services, Tyler had been busy planning and scheming to pull off the biggest surprise ever! He enlisted his family to help ensure Candice was unaware he was en route from Texas to Oklahoma. Tyler showed up just in time to watch Candice lead worship and totally surprised her after she got off stage. She was completely caught off guard and shocked! After church, he took her out to a lovely dinner at Smoke in Owasso and then told her they were going back to his aunt’s house to watch the march madness championship game. Little did she know what was really about to happen… Unbeknownst to Candice, Tyler had been planning the perfect surprise proposal. Candice mentioned to Tyler early on that it was nearly impossible to surprise her so naturally, he accepted the challenge. If you know these two, you know they are competitive and love winning. When they got back to his aunt’s house, Candice was ready to get into comfies and watch the game, but Tyler said, “wait, don’t change yet, I have a surprise for you”. Slightly annoyed and confused, she said okay. He told her that he had set up a romantic patio night for them to watch the game, which still didn’t throw up any red flags for Candice. After waiting a few minutes, she opened the back door and walked outside only to be completely blown away. She walked down an aisle lined with rose petals passing by framed photos of them together while the sound of “One Man Band” by Old Dominion played in the background. There were sparkles, a beautiful dozen roses and a neon sign that read, “4,3,2,1 will you marry me”? The sun was just setting and there were twinkle lights dangling from the pergola where Tyler stood waiting for her to meet him. Once she got there, Tyler grabbed her hand and got down on one knee and presented the most exquisite ring she had ever seen. She obviously said YES and the rest is history!
