Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by August 1st—we realize this is a bit earlier than most RSVPs but with it being such a small venue and such a large amount of travel we have to turn in numbers a bit sooner.

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony will begin at 11am so please be there no later than 10:45am but I would recommend arriving into the Castle grounds at 10:15-10:30am so that you can find your way around the grounds to the chapel. The Castle itself is very large and can be hard to navigate but there will be guides helping.

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Yes, please let me know as soon as possible!

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

There is no parking for rental cars anywhere along the Royal Mile, please walk, taxi or use public transportation to get as close to the Castle as you can. You will not be able to take a taxi all the way up the hill so be prepared to walk uphill a little bit.

Is there a dress code?

Answer

YES! Because we are choosing to get married at a Historic Society of Scotland property we have to uphold the station of the venue—basically that means this wedding will have Formal Tea or Formal Garden Party Attire. Suits for men, tea length dresses and fascinators for women. Though we are getting married in St Margaret’s, it is not an active Catholic Church so church attire is not required. IF men would like to opt for kilts instead that is fine as well but not required at all.

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Please call/text Savannah and she can arrange hotel in whatever price range for you in correct area of town.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

Yes, “hen” and “stag” parties will be done the night before the wedding so all the women and men will split to do an impromptu bachelor and bachelorette party on the Royal Mile. After the wedding luncheon, all guests are welcome to pub crawl with us to celebrate our nuptials on the town!
