Prepare yourself for the sap... You hear those stories about love at first sight and most people just roll their eyes, but it is REAL people! We locked eyes across the dance floor at a country bar in Reno and that was it, I was a believer. I strategically made my way over to the bar to order a drink right next to him. Luckily, Mike was equipped with a wing man who introduced us and got us talking, then the rest was history. We started talking about where we're from, our jobs, hunting and fishing. Then before you know it, I'm leaving the bar... at 2:00 in the morning... with a guy I had just met...to go night fishing on the Truckee River. BEST DECISION EVER. I called my mom the next morning and told her I met the guy I was going to marry and I think her exact words were, "Oh you're so funny Savannah". But just look at us now. When you know, you know.
This past summer we took an amazing week long trip up to Montana, Yellowstone, and the Grand Tetons. The first three days of our trip we were staying with our good friend who lives in Bozeman and he took us fishing each day to three different rivers. The very first day we start off strong with an 18 mile float down the Madison River just outside of Ennis. About halfway through our float we stopped to do some shore fishing. I'm just minding my own business trying to catch something when all of the sudden out of the corner of my eye I see something right next to me. Keep in mind, my dad has been lecturing me about grizzly bears for months since we started planning this trip. So, my initial thought was I was about to be lunch for this grizzly that just snuck up beside me. I jumped and turned around relieved to see it was just Mike...on one knee asking me to marry him! He had the most beautiful fly box custom made with "For the Catch of a Lifetime" on the cover, and "Will You Marry Me" on the inside. It was filled with flies and had the most beautiful ring in the middle of them. Major kudos to my extra creative fiance, soon to HUSBAND!
Even with the world going crazy, we still were married on the original date we set! With our parents and siblings there, we exchanged our vows to each other on a cold windy beach of Lake Tahoe. Turns out it was a nude beach but hey that just adds more to our story! Now that it's a whole year later, we can't wait to celebrate with all of our friends and family.
