Nicole (the beloved maid of honor) begged me to come out of my apartment one night to join her at "the shop" and hang out with her because she was the only girl at an impromptu get-together. After much persuasion, I joined her at the shop to listen to the guys play music. Joe caught my eye - but he was leaving! I was quick to ask Nicole, "Are those guys coming back?" She assured me that - yes - they were coming back; they just had to run out to get drinks. Joe returned with a bottle of whiskey...flirtation and conversation ensued! It was near impossible to hear each other over the music, but we enjoyed each other's company anyway. It took a few weeks to see each other again, but I was giddy when Nicole asked, "Do you remember Joe? He was asking about you the other day."
Joe picked me up after work on a Monday to take me on a hike to Strawberry Rock. The hike up and back is quick, but we sat for an hour or two at the top, taking in the view and getting to know each other. We went to Toni's after our brief adventure. While eating a cheeseburger, I managed to drop avocado and sauce all over myself...I was so embarrassed! Joe swears to this day that it made him like me even more.
Joe met me at Redwood Curtain Brewery after work on a Friday; it had been a rough week and I was trying to decompress. We were trying to decide what to do for dinner, and Joe was insisting that we go out to a nice seafood restaurant! I was a little skeptical, but I played along because I wanted sushi! We decided on Bayfront for dinner. The view from our table was perfect; we enjoyed dinner and watched the sunset. Joe then asked me to walk along the boardwalk with him. It was cold, but gorgeous outside and I couldn't say no. We stopped for a moment, and Joe pulled out a white box! I was so surprised! But then the box fell in the water! I was trying to comprehend what happened and troubleshoot it all in the same moment...but then he pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked the question! Half mad that he littered, I was laughing and in tears all at once. After ordering a custom ring, he waited 2 months for that moment and couldn't wait any longer. It was perfect; not too extravagant, not too plain, and just a little comical.
