Riga, Latvia, December 31, 2019. As the winter's chill set in, and fireworks loaded up to welcome the new year, Emma was visiting her sister. On New Year's Eve, they went to a party hosted by none other than Gabe's friend from high school. While Emma chatted up an international crowd, Gabe arrived, and the group made its way to the waterfront. It was there the two of them bumped into each other and started chatting. Was it something in the air? Was it love at first sight? Hard to know. But our story officially started at midnight on New Year's Eve at a party in Latvia, and the rest is history.
Immediately after meeting, the COVID-19 pandemic struck. But that didn't stop either of us. We began dating in quarantine, and we went on to last through five moves, graduate schools, a year apart while Gabe lived in Jordan, another half-year while Emma lived in West Virginia, and countless other hurdles. In the quiet peace of the moments in between, we've shared recipes, laughter, snark, strength, sorrow, and joy. Above all, we've shared an abiding mutual affection and support. It has carried us through six wonderful years and counting.
Everything has led to this moment. We would be honored, incredibly grateful, and deeply moved if you joined us on this momentous day.
