Crossan and Sarah Helen first met at Davidson College in the fall of 2017, when Sarah Helen arrived on campus as a new member of the swim team. Over the next two years, they became close friends as they spent 400 IM practices in the pool together, took dozens of impromptu trips to Whit’s (the local frozen custard shop), and discovered a shared affection for deep tracks in the Lil Wayne discography. After just over two years of friendship, an undisclosed amount of flirting, and nearly a year of driving to Lake Forest Davidson church together, Crossan and Sarah Helen started dating at the beginning of Crossan’s last semester at Davidson. In the year that followed, Crossan left for Connecticut to start a PhD program in Economics, and Sarah Helen graduated from Davidson and moved to Pittsburgh for a Master’s program in Public Health. Despite spending most of the next few years apart, the Lord used weekly couples’ devotionals and monthly trips to visit each other to draw them closer together as a couple. Around the time Sarah Helen finished up her Master’s degree in December of 2022, they began to think and pray earnestly about what it might be like to become husband and wife, and Crossan asked Sarah Helen to marry him in June of 2023.
Crossan proposed at one of their favorite college date spots on Lake Norman in Davidson after a "surprise" change to a planned hiking trip in the mountains of western North Carolina. Crossan and Sarah Helen are so thankful for the love and prayers from their friends and family as they prepare to enter into this special covenant together, and they are excited to celebrate the joyful occasion with you all in June!
