Parents of the Groom
Officiant
Mike "Mikey G" Madrid is a former boss, mentor, and friend of Zack. Mike met Sarah first in Park City, Utah less than two months into her relationship with Zack. He has been supportive of the relationship since that day and encourages Zack to be the best partner he can be.
Best Man
The little brother of the groom, except now he's the taller one. While Zack still doesn't understand the appeal of skydiving or mixed martial arts, he is so proud of Harrison, even his weird hobbies. The Best Man/Number One Brother is coming from Denver where he does engineering stuff.
Matron of Honor
From sorority big little to bridemaids. In the last weekend of college, we made a pact to be bridesmaids at each others weddings. Five years later, Ashley honored her promise and now it's Sarah's turn.
Groomsman
From a dorm suite at UNC to the dumpiest apartment off Franklin Street, Aren and Zack spent some of their most formative years arguing about philosophy (lol) and talking politics. Aren was a fellow intern on the Obama campaign in 2012 when Zack found his professional future. When Zack and Sarah first started dating Aren and his lawyer wife Catherine were there on date number two.
Maid of Honor
Also part of the bridesmaids pact, Marie, Sarah and Ashley have been best friends since college. Sarah couldn't pick one to be her maid/matron of honor so she made them both join her on her special day.
Groomsman
He lived with Zack in a "quad" their senior year of high school. For context, this meant four teenage boys shared one room. It was appalling, but ultimately perhaps led to trauma bonding. Curtis and Zack both moved out west after college and spent several Christmases and Thanksgivings together as east coast transplants at Curtis' home in Tucson.
Bridesmaid
Sarah and Mikayla may not have know each other for long, but their weekly Mikayla-Sarah date nights have allowed them to get close fast. Sarah had to include Mikayla in the big day after all the times she's joined Sarah and Zack as their cheerleading third wheel.
Groomsman
Jacob and Zack met on the 2013 SUCCESSFUL Terry McAuliffe for Governor campaign. They had to walk 10 miles, barefoot, in the snow, up hill, both ways to get to their office. It was when campaigns were campaigns. Zack followed Jacob to the suburbs of Boston and again to Alexandria to work with him for candidates you'll never hear about. Jacob also lived through the Lincoln Project experience with Zack, which was wild.
Bridesmaid
After being roommates for two years, Arielle has seen Sarah and Zack's relationship blossom from the beginning. Trashy reality TV and margarita nights weren't enough to stop these two from succeeding in graduate school.
Groomsman
James Lynch. Jimbo. Jimothy. Jimmer Fredette. What a guy. He met Zack when they both moved to Seattle to work for 1560 LLC, a company dedicated to helping a certain Seattle based coffee salesman make a few professional decisions. Zack admired James, both professionally and just as a guy generally so he insisted on friendship. James and his amazing wife Jamie (James and Jamie?!?!) have two wonderful children so James needed at least one friend without kids and was forced to accept.
Bridesmaid
In the rare example of high school friend who got closer after graduation, Haarika has known Sarah the longest of her bridesmaids. Sarah knew Haarika would be standing by her side before she met the groom!
Groomsman
Gordon the lawyer lived with Zack at college number three, Elon University. They caused a bit of a brouhaha in Model U.N. and were part of the short lived "political discussions club." It lasted about 3 weeks before absolutely imploding. After graduating they worked together on the 2016 Presidential campaign for a candidate who was not successful. You may have heard about it. Gordon is Zack's only single groomsmen. He is a very successful lawyer and an average tennis player.
