There are many great areas to check out locally near the venue and within an hour's drive. For those that have not been to the area, we highly recommend spending some time in either Asheville or the Great Smoky Mountains before/after the wedding! We have included recommendations for those areas as well as our favorites near Whittier!

Black Balsam Knob

This is where Tom and I had our engagement photos taken in North Carolina (check out the gallery tab for more photos). It is a beautiful drive up to the trail head and the hike is relatively easy/short with amazing views! Type Black Balsam Knob on maps to get directions - there is no parking lot, only street parking near the trail head.

For those that want to extend their trip we love the Great Smoky Mountains. There are many great areas to camp/hike. Please be aware that this is the peak time of year for tourists due to the weather and leaves changing colors, so we recommend planning in advance!
