We could tell you the story of how we met cute at the bookstore; how he bumped into me, knocking over my stack of critically acclaimed novels. We could tell you how sparks flew when our eyes first met as he crouched to help me collect my books from the floor and the rest is history, but that would be somewhat of an exaggeration. In fact, it would be a lie. The truth of the matter is we were two youngsters from a digital age letting the algorithm work its magic, and that it did. I was swiping mindlessly through a sea of Brads and Chads until I came across the page of a man named Seattle. The uniqueness of his name alone would have been enough to swipe right, not to mention he was drop dead gorgeous: long blonde curls, a sharp jawline, and eyes as green as the day is long. I cool, calm, and collectedly swiped right before showing his picture to my friends with - a very appropriate amount of - enthusiasm. Before the night was through we were chatting back and forth. The clichés come into play when I tell you that we clicked instantly, by our second date it was as though we'd known each other for a lifetime. They say, " when you know, you know," and we surely did! By 3 months in I was helping him pack up all his things to move him in with me (all his things being a plastic hamper full of clothes and one Ikea lamp.) In hindsight, moving in with an internet stranger you've known for 12 weeks does sound pretty outrageous and out of character for the both of us. BUT - to be fair - not a single soul from either of our families told us we were being silly, impulsive children or rained on our parade (and for that we thank you all!) It may not seem like a storybook affair, but here we are, 5 years into forever and it certainly feels like a fairytale to us. We went from being two strangers on the internet to navigating all of life's trials and triumphs together, and we couldn't possibly feel any more grateful to have one another.
Long story short: we don't even remember how it started. We are just two birds being birds together, and that's all we need to know!
