Spring 2013 in Atlanta marked a turning point in our lives. Sarah was deep into her graduate studies when her advisor asked if she wanted to attend a meeting about housing issues in the city. The meeting was with someone named Rob, and she assumed we would be discussing policy with an older city official. The meeting was set at Sweet Auburn, a local food market. As Sarah waited at a table, a young, good-looking man approached and introduced himself as Rob. To her surprise, this was the Rob she was meeting. Their conversation flowed effortlessly, and she was immediately impressed by his intelligence and charm. Little did she know, he felt the same admiration for her. After that first meeting, we began to meet up for drinks and our connection grew stronger. Our casual meetups turned into dates, and before long, we were officially a couple. However, as life would have it, we were soon faced with a significant challenge. Sarah graduated from her master's program and was accepted into a PhD program in Geography and Urban Studies at Temple University in Philadelphia, while Rob was accepted into a Master of City Planning program at MIT in Boston. The prospect of maintaining a relationship across two different cities so early on was daunting. The following years were rocky as we navigated the complexities of a long-distance relationship, but our commitment to each other never wavered. Rob excelled at MIT, and upon graduation, he moved to Philadelphia to be with Sarah. He started his career with the City of Philadelphia as a fiscal policy analyst, and we finally were able to be together in the same city, building our future together. Looking back, our journey from that unexpected meeting in Atlanta to where we are now is a testament to our shared passion and resilience. Despite the distances and challenges, we found our way back to each other, proving that our love truly knows no bounds.
