Travel Tips

Money Matters

- Argentina has six exchange rates. While the banks give the official exchange rate, it’s best to exchange at the “dolar blue” if you’re looking for mega savings! More on that here: https://bluedollar.net - Nico and Sarah will take care of exchanging USD at the “dolar blue” rate for our guests upon your arrival. This requires bringing USD cash to Argentina. We will send more information on this process 3 months prior to the wedding. - Many restaurants/ bars only accept cash.

Safety

The central neighborhoods of Buenos Aires are safe. Similar to all big cities, there are a few things to keep in mind: - Walk around with a purse or backpack that zips shut. When sitting down to eat, keep your purse in your lap. - Don’t flash expensive items like an iPhone or blingy jewelry when on the street.

Transportation

- The easiest way to get around the city is via Uber or Cabify (the Argentine version of Uber). - While you can pay with credit card, it’s best to pay in cash with pesos exchanged at the “dolar blue.” - The taxi system in Buenos Aires is safe & efficient, but we recommend using Uber or Cabify to avoid taxi scams. (While rare, they happen.)

Stay Caffeinated

- Argentines eat dinner later than in the US. Restaurants typically open at 8 PM, and majority of people eat between 9 PM - 10 PM. - On the weekend, Argentines go to bars around 10/11 PM. That being said, bars tend to open earlier, so you can beat the crowd if you'd like. - Don’t be afraid to sleep in; you’ll be out late!

Attire

- Buenos Aires is known as the Paris of South America, and locals have a European style. - When going out, people are fashionably conscious. You will stand out in typical American travel wear.

Language

- The official language of Argentina is Spanish, but many people speak English. When visiting tourist destinations, you can get by speaking in English (with a few basic Spanish phrases if necessary).

Weather

- The end of March in Buenos Aires is the start of fall. It’s typically in the mid-70s with occasional rain. Bring a raincoat just in case!

Tipping

- You should tip 10% at restaurants, bars, and cafes. - You should tip hotel porters the equivalent of $3 USD.

International Travel

You will fly into Ezeiza International Airport (EZE). If flying from Colorado, it’s often cheaper to book two separate tickets to get to Buenos Aires—a domestic flight to a hub in the US with direct flights to Buenos Aires + the international flight. These hubs are: ✈️ Delta Airlines: Atlanta, Miami, New York City ✈️ American Airlines: Dallas, Miami, New York City ✈️ United Airlines: Houston ✈️ Aerolineas Argentinas: Miami, New York
