Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The wedding is formal attire (not black tie). For the ceremony, we ask that women use a shawl if they are wearing a strapless or spaghetti strap dress (use your best judgment here). For the reception, no need! The welcome party is casual, summer cocktail attire (button downs for men but no jackets; floral or light colored dresses for women!)

Question

What should I know about a Catholic ceremony?

Answer

Please arrive no later than 12:45 pm, as we need everyone seated for our start at exactly 1:00 pm. We ask that people please do not take photos until the ceremony is over. Once the Priest dismisses the congregation and Sarah & Michael start walking back down the aisle though, go for it! See above for comments on dress code.

Question

What transportation is provided?

Answer

On Saturday, Shuttles will be running between downtown Portland and the reception at the Black Point Inn at 3:30 pm from the Marriott AC hotel. See our Travel page for more details! Both the Cathedral and Rising Tide Brewery (location of Friday’s Welcome Party) are within walking distance or less than a 5 minute Uber away from downtown Portland. We suggest picking whichever option is better for you (and for your feet!) As a note, Ubers are very easy to get in downtown Portland, but quite tricky at the Black Point Inn. If you need to leave the reception on Saturday prior to 9:30 pm, please see the front desk staff who can provide taxi information Renting a car isn’t needed for the planned activities over the weekend, but will be helpful if you want to explore the surrounding area. For those who choose to drive to events, there is ample parking at all locations (Cathedral, Black Point Inn, Rising Tide Brewery, Brickyard Hollow, and hotels)

Question

What should I do between the ceremony and the reception?

Answer

The ceremony will finish by 2:00 pm, and shuttle pick up will be at 3:30 pm. In the 60-90 minutes that you’ll have in between, we recommend taking a walk along the waterfront for beautiful views and window shopping, or hitting up one of our favorite bars or breweries. See our page on Things to Do for specific recommendations!

Question

By when should I book my hotel room?

Answer

We have a set number of rooms blocked off at the Hilton and AC Hotel, so recommend booking as soon as you can! If rooms run out and people still are interested in staying downtown, we will look into adding more rooms and/or getting another hotel block

Question

How will we be made aware of any day-of logistics?

Answer

The week of our wedding, we will create a WhatsApp group for people to join. In the group, we will post updates about shuttle pick ups and other reminders throughout the weekend

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

While we adore your little ones, we’ve chosen to create an adult-only atmosphere for our wedding to allow everyone to relax and enjoy themselves fully. We kindly ask for your understanding and help in making alternate arrangements for childcare so you can celebrate with us.
