Excelsior Springs Golf Course opened in October, 1915 with the completion of an 18-hole championship course. The club briefly expanded to 36 holes in the late 1920’s, but the Great Depression returned the club to the original 18 holes that are still in place today. This Championship 6553 yard par 72, was designed by renowned golf course architect, Tom Bendelow, who also designed Medinah Country Club, home of the 1949, 1975, & 1990 U.S.Opens as well as Olympia Fields Country Club, where they hosted the 1928 and 2003 U.S.Open and two past PGA Championships.
If you are looking to receive spa services while attending our wedding, The Elms suggest booking 4 weeks in advance (I was able to get a service on the day we came, but they did say especially on the weekends that is usually not the case). Sarah has a copy of The Elms service menu, otherwise it is listed on their website, along with pricing, information on how to book an appointment, and your choice of male or female therapist. If you are in the bridal party please make sure to inform staff when making your appointment! There is also an amazing Grotto, that is available inside the Spa, this includes a steam shower, hot tub, cold plunge tub, steam sauna, dry sauna, and a self-service exfoliation bar.
Not only is The Elms provides something for everyone. In addition to the Grotto located inside the Spa, The Elms has two additional pools on site. The outdoor heated pool with hot tub, as well as the long pool in their basement, which also is home to another hot tub and a cold tub, bring your swimwear and jump on it!
Four Horses and a Dog is a vineyard and winery that came to life in 2008 and is located in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. It's run by two couples, Mike + Cheryl and Stephen + Jeanine. Oh, they all love wine too!
Since the 1800’s settlers and prospectors in the area now known as Excelsior Springs have been unearthing natural springs to which they have attributed curative powers. From anxiety to Polio, each of the springs that was discovered seemed to have its own healing use. As the area began gaining notoriety as a health resort the idea to bring a number of these water sources under one roof was approved and the Hall of Waters was born. Designed in a striking art deco fashion, the spa contained the longest water bar in the world where visitors could come and sample the out put of ten of Excelsior Springs’ natural fonts which had been redirected to the building. On tap were such aqua varietals as “calcium water,” “saline water,” and “iron manganese water.” In addition to the high-ceilinged bar area, there was also a championship size swimming pool built as well as a “Polio Pool,” and men and women’s spa areas.
Don’t be afraid … Well maybe a little! Prepare yourself for an evening of fun, scares and paranormal activity as you are guided through the Historical Hall of Waters. You will hear history and tales that you won’t hear before the sun goes down. Experience the unseen spirits, lost souls and more that linger around every corner. Expect the unexpected at the abandoned swimming pool and this 1940’s spa of healing. Anomalies have been seen in photos, such as shadows and figures when no one else is in sight! You’re paranormal expert, T.R. Kennedy, and his team will utilize specialized paranormal equipment including electromagnetic field meters that can detect dark presences and trapped spirits. Tickets are $40 per person. This event lasts from 7:00 PM until Midnight. Private bookings can be arranged, click here to submit a private booking inquiry.
