Set up by a mutual friend, we went on our first date to the Oxford Square on the last day of finals. We initially only had dinner plans but hit it off so well that we decided to go to a movie. There were only two options: Frozen or The Hobbit. When Matt excitedly agreed to go see Frozen, Sarah knew she had met a winner. We parted ways at the end of the night and returned home for the holidays, unsure of what the future had in store. However, we talked every day during winter break and swiftly started dating once the spring semester began.

After graduating from Ole Miss, our relationship has spanned many time zones. Matt moved to Quantico, VA, to train as a Marine officer, and Sarah moved back home to Albuquerque, NM, to spend time with her family before beginning graduate school at UNC Chapel Hill. The mileage between us increased when Matt received orders to Okinawa, Japan in 2019. Although we missed each other's company, we were still able to "go on dates" over Facetime, including watching several Netflix shows and cooking meals together. Little did Sarah know that Matt was enlisting the help of her friends and family to find out her ring size.
