Sarah and Jeremy's love story is quite atypical; their first date took place outside in Chicago in late October in the midst of a global pandemic. Unsurprisingly, Jeremy did not make a reservation in advance, but Sarah, also unsurprisingly, had a reservation booked before the date was even confirmed. It was clear from the beginning that they complemented each other well, a fact that became increasingly more evident throughout that first date. They met at a local bar (Bandit) where they chatted under a heat lamp in several layers of clothes while drinking hot toddies. While it may have been an unconventional first date, they both felt it was perfect. Sarah and Jeremy quickly bonded over their love of family and travel, their experiences living in different cities and attending graduate schools far from home, and of course, their best respective stories attempting to date through Covid. Before the evening ended, Jeremy was clearly smitten; he asked Sarah if he could see her the upcoming weekend despite Sarah initially saying that she was "busy" on the suggested date. Sarah agreed to meet on Halloween where she was introduced to Jeremy's refined taste in film when they watched the cinematic masterpiece “Scream.” A few days later, they met in a park for a picnic and full day together. They both say it was after this date that they knew they had something truly special. Over the next several months, their relationship continued to grow. Sarah got Jeremy into Survivor and Notre Dame Football; Jeremy returned the favor with Miami Dolphins Football and new candy/ice cream assortments. After about 6 months of dating, the world starting opening back up and Sarah and Jeremy finally got to meet each others’ friends and family, spending most weekends travelling to weddings across the country. While neither felt approval was needed, it was resounding from both sides, which only strengthened their commitment and belief in what they had. Throughout that first 1.5 years, they travelled to Kiawah Island several times together. Sarah always speaks of Kiawah as her favorite place, and she and her family have been going there all of her life. After a Kiawah proposal, it has a similar importance to Jeremy, which is part of the reason they have decided to tie the knot in the same location. Sarah and Jeremy want to share their love of this small island with their friends and family, and hope you can all join them for their wedding at the River Course next June!
