We'd met several times over the fall semester in 2017 through mutual friends. I told one of those mutual friends (shoutout Makenna) about how cute I thought her friend Jacob was so she invited him to our New Years Eve party. We spent basically the entire night as partners at the beer pong table and we rang in 2018 with a midnight kiss!

We spent a lot of time together after New Years. On our first real date I was so nervous in the car that I spent a lot of time talking about Christmas trees (which Jacob does not like to let me forget haha). Thankfully we got past the small talk and there more dates to follow; after a night in watching documentaries and eating takeout Jacob asked me to officially be his girlfriend.

During 2020 (I think we all remember how fun that was) we were living 2 hours away from each other and I was working 3rd shift. At the beginning of 2020 I was able to move back to 1st shift and we decided we were ready to spend more than every other weekend together so we got an apartment! Much to my father's initial disappointment - we did not engaged before we moved in. But we did get two cats.

Almost 4 years after that NYE party Jacob asked me to marry him on Christmas Morning. I started cross stitching during 2020 and my very first project was a gift for Jacob - which hangs in a gallery wall in his home office now! Jacob went to visit his family one weekend in November and spent the whole weekend cross stitching (his first and likely last project haha) a proposal for me! That one hangs in our bedroom now!

NOW WE GET MARRIED!
