This is story about how a young Jacob and Sarah met...It was 2006, probably an insufferable humid Louisiana day. Jacob and Sarah, both in middle school, simultaneously dreading and looking forward to going to THE event of the year. The Sadie Hawkins Dance. For those who may not know what this is: The Sadie Hawkins dance In my khaki pants There's nothing better Oh oh oh The girls ask the guys Its always a surprise. Sarah, although wildly shy usually, heeded her parent's advice to "go for it, the worst he can say is no." Well, He didn't say no in the middle of CMM's dodgeball field. They danced to the slow songs, arms out like a classic mummy horror film, pictures were taken, matching shirts were made, and Jacob was bold enough for a kiss on the cheek. This, of course, meant they were DATING. Jacob was the epitome of a great boyfriend; he called every night, asked about her day, they met each other at their lockers, and stood together, holding hands before the first bell. But, tragically, it would only be a brief three months before Sarah broke up with Jacob ("I'm sorry, this isn't working"). She felt him calling every night was too much, and she was much too young to be dating anyhow. By gym class, Jacob had told everyone HE was the one that broke up with Sarah, and she let him have that one shred of dignity. Somehow they both grew up, went to the same high school, graduated, and found each other again. An extremely long-distance relationship between a ULM student and TAMU student, five years later here they are. Turns out their Sadie Hawkins was just the beginning.
