Our Elopement Details!

In Person and Virtual Options

We’re getting married on October 10th at 1:30 PM :) If you would like to join in person: We will be having a small outdoor ceremony in our apartment complex’s courtyard. There are restrooms. There is street and garage parking. Passcode/elevator instructions should be in the email that was sent out. You can also ask the leasing office attendant how to get to the courtyard/elopement. The building can be tricky to navigate so we suggest you aim to arrive early. Location: 2501 9th Road South, Arlington, VA, courtyard is on the second floor. ** Masks will be required (we will provide some). We practice social distancing and ask that you do the same. We hate not hugging our loved ones, but we’d hate it more if COVID lasted longer than it had to. Please stay home if you are feeling unwell or live far away - which brings us to... If you would like to join virtually: We plan to start the Zoom feed at 1 PM; the ceremony is set for 1:30 PM. ZOOM link: https://zoom.us/j/96341025620 If you aren’t available for either: No worries! We know this date is over a month earlier than we originally had planned to marry. We will have the whole thing captured on video for posterity. We also hope to have a larger, in-person celebration next summer.

COVID-19 Update

(As of: August 25, 2020) Dearest loved ones, We have decided to postpone our friends-and-family wedding celebration to next summer. We pray that many positive changes to the world come between now and then. Unfortunately, our venue is uncertain of its future, so we may be facing an entirely new wedding planning, and we can’t give you all a set date before we have all of that ironed out. Wish us luck in that endeavor, and know that we will be so excited to celebrate with you and give you those details at a later date. In the meantime, we will be having a small elopement ceremony on October 10th so that we may safely, and without jeopardizing the health of others, be married. While we do not encourage a large group to gather for this ceremony, we also will not turn away any loved ones who insist on being there (please do not fly out or drive over an hour - we love you and do not want to put you or others in harm’s way). If you do want to come witness, please know that everything - hotel blocks, catering, even the cake - will be pushed back to the Summer 2021 “I Still Do!” celebration. We can give you the details, but please plan your transportation, accommodations, and meals accordingly. We will also maintain 6’ distances, and VA requires masks practically in your home bathroom, which we agree with! It would be difficult to see you all and NOT hug but it’s the reality we face. (Patsy the dog has taken a million for the team and has gotten all of our hugs since March). We do plan to have a videographer capture our October elopement for later viewing, and hopefully there will be a Zoom-like virtual attendance option. We will email update that development. Love and best wishes, Your favorite brides, S&A

An Unexpected Love

In the spring of 2015, Sarah switched from a cross-country travel job to a more local 9-5 and decided she should take up a new hobby in the DC area. Infamous at the time (and still now) for having a new hobby each year, this time Sarah chose to take a beginning level improv comedy class. About a tenth of a mile down the street, Anna was getting ready to teach one of her final improv classes at The Comedy Spot in the Ballston Corner mall (RIP). Soon she would be moving on to take a coveted position as an improv instructor at the city’s top comedy venue, the DC Improv. Little did they both know that these were about to be small changes compared to the bigger one coming up in their lives. It was only a few post-class trips to the Rock Bottom Bar later (also RIP) that both started to feel...strange. And happy. And excited to see each other. And maybe they wanted too badly to sit next to each other and not want conversations to end. Soon the awkward lingering had to be acknowledged, and many “long talks” ensued, eventually leading to a mutual decision to give this love a shot. Not long after making the relationship official, Sarah met the other leading lady in Anna’s life: Patsy. A known doggo-phobe, Sarah had to let go of yet another convention of what/who she liked, and she and Patsy became absolute best friends forever. Sarah and Patsy will now live happily ever after. And Anna will be there, too.

The Proposal

Anna's improv group, Porkchop Volcano, performed a set on Labor Day Weekend of 2019 at the DC Improv. Sarah coordinated for months with Conor (another member of the troupe) and Allyson (General Manager of the Club) to set up the perfect surprise for Anna after the show.
