Question

What is the travel time from Denver to Grand Junction?

Answer

Traveling from Denver to Grand Junction via car on I-70 Corridor will take approximately 4-5 hours depending on traffic, road conditions and / or random mountain goats on the road. Since this is fall there is always a chance for potential early inclement weather in the mountains, so please plan accordingly!

Question

What if I-70 is closed from Denver to Grand Junction?

Answer

Well sucks to be you, just kidding :) there is an alternate road routes you should be able to take: 1) Up North via Steamboat Springs (6-7 hour drive) around, which is normally the recommended detour route, but still dealing with mountain terrain 2) Down south via Buena Vista / Gunnison / Montrose (6-7 hour drive), this route is a little less mountainous and usually is always open Either way you should have beautiful views of the Rocky Mountains and wonderful mountain towns along the way

Question

What is the travel time from Grand Junction to Powderhorn Mountain Resort?

Answer

It takes approximately 1 hour from Grand Junction to get up to the Mesa / Resort. If you find lodging in Palisade it will take approximately 45 minutes. This is a mountain road that has a few switchbacks with beautiful views along the way and fun drifting corners with the right car.

Question

Is there lodging at Powderhorn Mountain Resort?

Answer

Why yes there is, but only for those who are drinking...so drink up! Just kidding it's for all going! which here are the available options: 1) Goldenwoods Condos at Powderhorn: https://goldenwoodscondos.com/ 2) Mesa Lakes Lodge - Cabin Rentals (12 mins up the Mesa): https://www.mesalakeslodge.com/ 3) VRBO / AirBnb around Mesa / Powderhorn should always be an option 4) RV Camping, limited spots at Powderhorn if you wanted to rent / bring your camper We would highly recommend it if you are drinking / do not like night driving on a mountain road to look into staying at one of the above options. As well since you are on a mountain, unless you love the great outdoors, that is all you will get! and the nearest big town is Palisade so keep that in mind if you choose to stay the entire weekend at one of the above choices

Question

What is the average Temperature / Weather at Powderhorn

Answer

We are hoping for great fall weather that weekend! However keep in mind since we are on a mountain it can be quite chillier on the Mesa compared to Grand Junction. The current weather average is 59 degrees during the day / 26 degrees at night.

For all the days along the way
