Maid of Honor
Isa and I met in Mr. Weaver's 7th grade class. We immediately bonded over baking, shopping, and, even back then, wedding tv shows. Who knew that almost 15 years later we would be making those childhood dreams a reality. We have been best friends ever since and I am truly honored to have her stand beside me as I marry my other best friend. I love you tons, Iss! Here's to the best Maid of Honor my 12 year old self could have ever imagined and more!
Best Man
As my younger brother, Nick has been a constant in my life. Fortunately, Nick and I never had the stereotypical older-younger sibling relationship. We enjoyed spending time with one another and rarely bickered. Throughout high school, he even became friends with Sarah, Huey, and Jabari. When we would hang out, we had the habit of forgetting that Nick was three years younger. We have done a lot together throughout the years! From kicking ass around the world to playing game cube in the basement, my wedding will be no different. Even before proposing, I knew Nick would be standing by my side as I said "I do". We love you Nicky!
Bridesmaid
Not only is Emma my cousin, but she is also like a sister to me. She is the first person I call when I need to vent or when I just need a good laugh. We always have the best times together and I would not change our friendship for anything. Despite being older than her by 1 year, I have learned so much from her about how to be my true, fearless self. At 11 years old, she was the first in my family to meet Adrian and so it is only fitting that she stand with us as we say "I do!". I love you so much, Emm! Thank you for being a part of our big day.
Groomsman
I met Huey in the 5th grade at Masterman and the rest is history! We have been inseparable since. Sarah and I appreciate how both of us have a distinct friendship with him. From making our teachers regret their seating charts to visits at Penn State (Hail to Pitt!), the wedding wouldn't be the same with out him. We have had so many great memories and experiences, so I am so grateful to add one more! You can count on Huey to be the life of the party and to count your shots, hope you all keep up!
Bridesmaid
As my friend and sister of almost 25 years, Molly is such an important figure in my life. I met Molly when I was only 18 months old at St. Mary's Nursery School in West Philadelphia. We became instant and inseparable friends who spent every weekend together. Our families have merged over the years and we are lucky to have each other as support. I would not be the person I am today without them and I cannot wait to have them stand next to me at my wedding. I love you, Moll! Here's to our next 25 years of friendship.
Groomsman
Jabari has been one of my best friends since we met in Mrs. McGeary's class at Masterman. Middle and High School were filled with great memories, so we were excited when we learned that it would continue in Pittsburgh. Every weekend Jabari would take the bus from Duquesne just to spend the weekend (even some weekdays) at Pitt. Our epic battles of Mario Kart™ will go down in Tower A history. Jabari has been know to tear it up on the dance floor, so be sure to be on the look out for an impromptu twerk! Thank you for being by my side on my special day!
Bridesmaid
Some of you may know Michelle as my work wife. Although we have not worked together since I moved to New Jersey, she will always be my work wife. She and I were meant to meet and become friends after living just blocks from each other in college, attending the same events with the same friends, and seeking similar experiences in secondary education while never crossing paths. Fate finally brought us together in graduate school and again when we started our teaching careers at Kensington Health Sciences Academy. I would not have gotten through my first year without her and I cannot start my first year as a wife without my work wife next to me. As we say to our students, love you chicken!!
Groomsman
Chris is technically my first cousin once removed, but he has always felt like another older brother: someone I could look up to and ask advice. Staying at Titi Sandra and Uncle Gil's house was always exciting because we got to hang out. Whenever we're together you can count on a beer to be open and the Philly-NY sports rivalry at the forefront of discussion! You can expect Chris to go nuts on the dance floor, especially to "Poison"! Thanks primo and so happy that you'll be by my side as I say "I do".
Bridesmaid
Ami has been the older sister addition to my family that I always wished for. Her fashion sense and knowledge of the education system have both helped me immensely as we have grown and learned more about each other over the years. I am so grateful that my brother brought her into our family and I cannot wait to see what their future holds too! I love you both tons. Thank you for standing by my side on our big day!
Groomsman
Xander is not only my future brother-in-law, but is also my friend. I first met Xander when I joined the Masterman Ultimate frisbee team. He served as the team's captain that year. He and other teammates are the reason I fell in love with the sport. When I started dating Sarah, our friendship continued to grow over the many discussions about the Sixers, beer, and video games. Thanks for welcoming me into the family with open arms!
Bridesmaid
While Melanie is technically Adrian's cousin, she is already my cousin too. She has always welcomed me into the family and truly become a friend. Melanie is one of the sweetest, kindest, and most helpful people I know. She is always willing to lend a hand, which has been an incredible asset throughout the wedding planning process. I cannot wait to have her up there with me when I say "I do!" and I would not have it any other way!
Groomsman
I met Noel when I was 10 years old at Taekwon-do class. We were classmates for some time before our families learned that we were cousins through the marriage of our great-grandparents! Since then, our families have merged and we've been inseparable. Noel is one of my closest friends and someone I can always depend on. You can expect Noel to break out his legendary salsa moves on the dance floor. Thanks for being by my side on this day, love you primo!
Bridesmaid
Where do I even begin with my name twin, my pisces twin, my grandmama twin! Sarah and I met on Adrian's move-in day at Pitt. She and I bonded quickly and her friendship has been invaluable ever since. Our families have come together for game day tail gates, Christmas parties, and graduation celebrations. We cannot wait to celebrate with her more at our wedding. Sarah is like a sister to us both and if we could have her stand on both sides of the aisle, we would!
Junior Groomsman
I first saw Henry when Marianne brought him on our 5th grade trip to the Eastern State penitentiary in a baby front-pack. He was so small then, and I can't believe I have watched him grow up throughout the years. Getting to know him and watching his milestones has been rewarding. I love our discussions about all things sports, video games, and Marvel. You can expect Henry to attempt several gymnastics flips in his suit (hopefully after the pictures haha!). Thank you for being by my side on your big sister's wedding day! We love you!
Junior Bridesmaid
Adrian met Ella soon after they were born when my dad would bring them in a front pack to our frisbee practices. I would be on the sidelines, taking attendance and keeping score as the team manager, while Adrian would be playing on the field with Xander. As the years went on, Ella and Adrian built their own bond aside from me. I remember one night, they specifically requested for Adrian to read them a bed time story. I watched him show Ella all the pictures in the book and voice each character, making them giggle in their pjs. It was that moment that I knew I was falling in love with Adrian because it was clear to me that he loved my family and that they loved him back. Ella has played a role in our love story and will play a role in our wedding too. I love you Ella!!
Ring Bearer
I remember when I held my little cousin, Julian, for the first time. I was so excited for there to be a little baby in the family again. It has been a privilege to see him grow up into a young person. I always enjoy how excited he is to see me every time, no matter how long it has been since our last visit. Julian is very clever and always loves having a good time. We are trusting him with one of the most important jobs at our wedding and we know that he will rise to the occasion. We love you, Julian! Thank you for taking care of our rings!
Flower Girl
Since the first day that I met little Ella, she has been attached to me at the hip. She and I love coloring, baking, and singing together. Although we usually only see each other at Gomez family functions, she frequently told her mom that she missed me and wanted to hang out. Eventually, her mom set up a Facebook Messenger Kids app for us to chat. There are many days that I finally look at my phone after a long day of teaching and see messages, silly selfies, and game requests from Ella. It always makes me smile and I am so glad that she agreed to be our flower girl!
Officiant
Mac is my second cousin on my dad's side and he is honestly one of my favorite people. I look up to him and his wife Gina in the way that they have built their family, supported their community, and continue to be advocates in our world. When Adrian and I thought about who we would want to marry us, Mac was the first person I thought of because we wanted someone who knew us and would make our ceremony personal. Our wedding would not be the same without him and the New Orleans party that comes along the way. We love him so much and are so lucky that he agreed to do us this honor!
