A handsome brick and stucco Tudor residence built in 1927; the house sits on more than an acre of beautifully landscaped grounds with views of the Willamette River and Portland’s West Hills. The Historic Overlook House is minutes from downtown Portland, Portland International Airport and an easy walk from the Overlook Park Max Station. HOUSE RULES Children must be supervised. ~~~ The basement is not part of our rental agreement, but the main floor and upstairs are. There is one bathroom on the main floor near the kitchen and one upstairs available for use. ~~~ No liquor allowed on the property. Only beer, wine, champagne and non-alcoholic beverages will be served. ~~~ No smoking or vaping within 10 feet of all entrances, exits, windows and air intake vents (located on the south side of the house). ~~~ The house is owned by Portland Parks and as such is considered to be a public place and use of cannabis on the premises is prohibited.
Yes, but out of respect for the photographer and videographer, please don't use flash and plan to sit further away from the center isle so cell phones aren't visible in the important shots. There's only so much Photoshop can do. We should be able to share photos from the photographer via her website for anyone that wants prints. Details to follow.
Either the front door or side paths. You are welcome to wait in the air conditioned front room with the card box and guestbook if you arrive early for the ceremony. The side paths will take you straight to the back lawn. It is a community center, so any barriers would be there to discourage locals from wandering through.
There is street parking in the neighborhood and a few spaces in front of the house. We recommend carpooling or Uber/Lyft. It is a six-minute walk from the MAX yellow line stop at Overlook Park.
The rehearsal will be on Thursday the 20th. I'm hoping to have a last-minute prep day on Friday at my house in North Portland for anyone that wants to help assemble appetizers and anything else that still needs to be done. Anyone that would like to go out for cocktails after the ceremony on Saturday should head over to the Kennedy School. We're hoping to do a brunch on Sunday as well.
Contact Sarah or Emilio directly so we can delegate tasks efficiently. This is a very DIY wedding, so any help would be appreciated. We have access to the interior of the venue starting at noon. Chairs and tables will need to be hauled outside, food and drink tables assembled, and decorations put up. There will be space upstairs to freshen up before the ceremony, but not much privacy outside of the bathrooms for changing. We'll have until 8PM to restore everything back to the way it was before we got there.
Absolutely! We'll try to offer something for everyone, but you're welcome to use the refrigerator if your needs can't be met.
Yes! If you need a place to stow diaper bags, you can use the conference room upstairs and we recommend using the upstairs bathroom to change diapers, because it's much larger than the downstairs bathroom. Formula and baby food can be stored in the refrigerator.
