Landon and Sara met online. At the time, Sara was living back at home after withdrawing from her sophomore semester at the University of Minnesota due to illness and Landon had just moved to Saint Paul after graduating from Minnesota State - Mankato. After a few weeks of texting and calling, they met in person in downtown Saint Paul - and their love story took off from there!

On the night he proposed, Landon mentioned that we should go out for dinner and suggested Black Sheep, a pizza restaurant in downtown Saint Paul that was one of our favorites when we lived downtown. On the way there, Landon made up a story of how "he didn't feel in the Christmas spirit" and suggested that we go look at Christmas lights in Mears Park. Mears Park is across the street from Landon's first apartment in Saint Paul, and we had spent many evenings walking through the park back when we first started dating. We parked and started walking, admiring the lights. Once we got to the middle of the park, Landon stopped, got down on one knee, and proposed! Everyone was as surprised as Landon had kept it a big secret!
