In November 2019, Sang and Kayne met the modern way in Baltimore: they swiped right on Hinge (so romantic!). They texted for a few weeks before meeting because Sang was knee-deep in her first semester of law school finals. Eventually they had a wonderful date; so wonderful that they saw each other again the next day. They continued to see each other for a couple of weeks and right before New Years, Kayne asked Sang to be his girlfriend. Things were great until the world as they knew it changed: the COVID-19 pandemic caused an immediate shutdown and Sang had to move back home to Pennsylvania. They missed each other more than either of them could imagine. Through March and April, Kayne would drive up from Maryland just so they could watch movies and eat chocolates. Kayne and Sang’s proposal ended up being quite a rollercoaster. Kayne told Sang for months that he wanted her to propose. So Sang, being the avid planner she is, organized a beautiful proposal in their home and arranged for Kayne’s mom and all of their friends to surprise him. However, Kayne, thinking that Sang was only bluffing when she claimed that she was actually going to propose, decided he was going to propose to Sang. When his plans didn’t work out, Kayne decided that he couldn’t wait to propose to the woman of his dreams. So he left the bag with the engagement ring on the pillow, to which Sang woke up…and said no. Sang wanted the proposal to be as special as her love for Kayne, so she wanted to wait until she could surprise him with all her plans. But things don’t usually go as planned. After a day of talking it out, Sang and Kayne realized that the only important thing was that they were one step closer to being together forever, so they got engaged! So while most of their engagement gifts have the wrong date on them, it has turned into a funny story. We’re so excited for you to join us and celebrate in August!
