We met in a Business Calculus study group put together by our mutual friend, Eric. At first Sam seemed fairly quiet to me but after several study sessions, campus Chick-Fil-A study breaks, and some Elvis Christmas music, a relationship outside of study group formed. We spent the rest of our freshman year hanging out and going to date parties together. We spent the summer texting, and then at the beginning of our sophomore year, we made things official!
This particular weekend, Sam told me that our friend, who lives in Charlotte, NC, asked for us to come up to Charlotte for the weekend. We planned to eat good food, go to breweries, and spend Saturday at the US National White Water Center. Three days before we were supposed to leave for Charlotte, our friend told us that he would have to spend Saturday "working". Sam said that he still wanted to go to the US National White Water Center, even though our friend could no longer go with us. We had a blast walking around the park and completing one of the ropes courses. We ate a delicious lunch and then settled into a debate on whether our next activity should be hiking (Sam's choice) or mountain biking (my choice). Sam was very insistent on hiking. While out hiking on the trail, Sam dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him!
