Question

What if I have questions?

Answer

Hopefully this page will have everything we need, but if not we have a wedding planner, Lezlie, who you can reach at Contact@lezliehicksevents.com with any additional questions!

Question

Bus Info!

Answer

If you RSVP'd for it, the bus from the C. Baldwin to the ceremony will depart from the front of the hotel at 3:10 sharp, and no, it can't wait any longer for you, so make sure you're there early! The bus to the reception will depart from the same place where you got dropped off. Please do not try to get on the bus if you didn't RSVP for it, the driver won't let you.

Question

The Parade

Answer

June 22nd is also the date of the Houston New Faces of Pride Parade! We've worked closely with the city to make sure that we have freedom of movement to and from the Julia Ideson (the reception venue) during this exciting event. Directions navigating the parade, as well as pass guaranteeing access, will be provided at the ceremony so that you will be able to get to (and from) the reception without difficulty. Note that because of road closures, while you will be able to leave FROM the reception at any time, you will need to arrive TO the reception no later than 6:30 pm.

Question

Where and when and what is everything?

Answer

There will be a gathering open to all wedding guests on Friday, June 21st following the rehearsal dinner at 8:00 p.m. at Vic and Anthony's (1510 Texas Ave, Houston, TX 77002). We'd love to see you and spend time in a more relaxed setting! Business casual attire. The ceremony will be on Saturday, June 22 at 4:00 p.m. at St. George's Orthodox Christian Church (5311 Mercer St, Houston, TX 77005). Following the service, the reception will begin with cocktail hour at 6:00 p.m. at the Julia Ideson Library (550 McKinney St, Houston, TX 77002). The reception is planned until 10:00 p.m. We will also have a brunch on Sunday, June 23rd at 12:00 noon at the Gaspar residence (3216 Drummond St, Houston TX 77025). This will be an open house, casual event - come and go as you can between 12pm and 3pm. Dress for the heat...we may have to spill outside :) Unless otherwise noted, everything will be indoors in an attempt to minimize serious heat injuries.

Question

What about transportation?

Answer

Houston has two airports, William P. Hobby (HOU) and George Bush Intercontinental (IAH). Hobby is closer to the hotels/event venues, and is a major hub for Southwest, so will probably be the easier and cheaper option overall. St. George's has a parking lot as well as street parking. There will be complimentary parking at the underground parking garage of the Julia Ideson. If you are staying at the C. Baldwin, we will provide transportation to the Church, and then to the Reception. You indicated whether you were planning on using the bus when you RSVP'd. More info can be found in the "Bus Info!" section above.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The wedding ceremony will be a semi-formal event. That's at least a jacket and tie, or a dress, and an overall sense of classiness. That said, please feel free to be expressive! The welcome event is business casual, and brunch on Sunday is casual.

Question

What's the food going to be like?

Answer

We will have appetizers during cocktail hour, and dinner will be buffet style. If you have any dietary concerns, be they allergies, sensitivities, preferences, or moral concerns, please indicate them in your RSVP in the space provided.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

🍸🍺🍷😉 (That means yes.)

Question

Can I take photos?

Answer

Of course! Frankly, we don't even know why they say you should have this question. You can take as many pictures and videos as you want, and do with them what you like!

Question

Is there a wedding registry?

Answer

We have a registry (which we are working on expanding) which you can find linked above. As we live some 1,200 miles from the Reception venue, we would encourage you to use the channels described there rather than bringing a gift in person.

Question

How about plus ones?

Answer

We'd love for you to bring your partner or immediate family member whose name is on the invitation). If you found someone on Tinder/the bar/in the woods, please check with us first. If you do not have a plus one on your invitation and would like to bring someone, please let us know.

Question

Can I bring a child?

Answer

We would prefer if you found childcare for the weekend. If this is untenable, please let us know.

Question

When should I arrive in Houston?

Answer

We would love to see you at the Friday night gathering! We are so grateful that you are coming to celebrate with us, and we want make sure we get to have a proper conversation. If you can't make it on Friday, though, then you should probably arrive prior to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We have booked a room block at the C. Baldwin! It is a beautiful hotel (for a great price) within walking distance of the venue. We also will be providing transportation for our guests to the ceremony and back! Deadline is May 31st. The link to book is above. You can also call and refer to the Gaspar & Bishop Room Block, but the online link is quite easy. If you're still reading this, its probably too late for you. Godspeed.
