In November 2018, Sam moved to OC with one of her best friends, Lauren (bridesmaid). Lauren’s job required significant travel at the time and Sam was not familiar with OC. Lauren suggested the dating scene and Sam was hesitant. Sam joined the dating app "Hinge" and matched with Danny within a week. Danny was the first date she agreed to go on: she was intrigued by his intelligence, bright smile and compassion. Sam & Danny met for the first time at Bootlegger's Brewery. Some flirtatious banter was exchanged over "Habanero Knuckle Sandwich" IPAs. They shared their love of sports, talked about friends & family and later engaged in a card game of "War." After a few rounds, we called it quits and Danny requested counting our cards. We each counted 26 cards, perfectly dividing the deck. Danny, to this day, swears it is a sign they were meant to be. Almost 4 years later, we’ve drank many more beers, shared our love of good food, survived a pandemic and introduced our sweet Nori to our family. Danny popped the question in December 2021. We walked through the Christmas lights in Naples, near our home in Long Beach with our friends, Meagan & Andrew. This has been a tradition of ours for the last few years and Sam did not suspect a thing. Meagan suggested we take a photo over one of the bridges. Danny got down on one knee and Sam was shocked. We couldn't wait to tie the knot and booked our wedding venue 2 months later!
