If you enjoy hiking, the Barton Creek Greenbelt has a bunch of wooded trails following Barton Creek in South Austin. There are multiple access points with parking, all listed on the 'VIEW' link below. You may have to get there early though, parking fills up quickly! Also, some of the routes seem to require crossing through the creek itself, but perhaps I just got lost.
Neither of us have been here yet, but it's on our list! About 45 minutes from downtown Austin if you wanted to get out of the city during the weekend. Reservations may be required but were only open for March as of 2/10/2022.
Indoor bouldering gym where we spend quite a few hours a week! For those unfamiliar, bouldering is short-wall (around 10-15 feet) rock climbing with no need for a rope or harness. Does require purchase of a day pass and rental shoes if you don't have your own, which should be about $15-20 for both. Highly recommend if you have any interest in climbing!
All you can eat or ala carte sushi! They serve at both lunch and dinner time, and there is a location in North Austin as well. One of the first restaurants we ate at ate at when moving to Austin last year, delicious and the North Austin location (Sushi Junai 2) can serve fairly large groups of at least 10 to 12. May have to call ahead to reserve.
An Austin classic for us and everyone we know here. Excellent pizza and a wide selection of beers, they also do takeout. It can be very busy at times so be prepared if you go during peak lunch or dinner hours, but we promise it'll be worth the wait.
Solid breakfast place, originally based in Denver CO since 2006 but made its way down to Austin. Multiple locations north and south of the river near downtown.
Great outdoor seating area, great sandwiches, soups, salads, and beer/cocktails. Located in east Austin and open lunch/dinner. Recommend the Godfather for the Italian sandwich lovers.
Admittedly not at all specific to Austin, but it's honestly been our favorite date spot since we started dating in college! Had quite a few celebratory dinners here and it's always great, we can't argue with the unlimited cinnamon-buttered dinner rolls.
