Polar Caves were formed during the last Ice Age when a glacier moved across the landscape, dropping granite boulders at the base of what’s now known as Hawk’s Cliff. As they fell, the boulders formed passageways, around and through which, they have built boardwalks and stairs to allow for deeper exploration. You can also explore inside the granite caves.
Driving the Kancamagus Highway is one of the absolute best things to do in New Hampshire. It may be the best place in the world to enjoy New England fall foliage! Smith Covered Bridge was built in 1850 and is listed in the World Guide of Covered Bridges (WGCB), number 29-05-10, and is New Hampshire covered bridge #44. The Smith Bridge was destroyed by fire on April 16, 1993 and was rebuilt as a covered bridge.
Foster’s Boiler Room serves a variety of fine American foods, from light fare to hearty selections, served in a lively pub, or fire-side in the Abenaki dining room. The restaurant space was once the boiler room for the large paper mill that was later converted by The Common Man family into The Common Man Inn & Spa!
