Our Love Journey
Both of us in Stirling Universty for a Masters degree, however, we only got to meet because we were next door neighbours at the uni's student accommodation village. The thing was, we were never meant to be there! He was meant to be renting a room in town, but that got cancelled last minute, while She was without accommodation and was going to be placed somewhere else in town. However, by a stroke of luck, two unrelated students that had been assigned a room each in adjacent student houses, decided not to turn up to uni. So long story short, we separately got assigned the rooms at the last minute. Weeks passed and we didn’t know of each other nor even once see each other, until a fateful day we happened to meet just as we were returning from somewhere and by our doors. Thus began an increased frequency of chance meeting at our doorsteps with increasingly longer chats about everything. Eventually, He invited me into his place, and from there, it grew into a lovely friendship of exchanging music, watching movies and tasty food (because He sure likes cooking). The friendship rapidly grew into a strong attraction and then into a ‘complicated’ relationship. We eventually realised though that we are destined for each other and would not accept any other thing or persons coming between us. Since then, our love has continued to grow so strongly, and even through difficult times, we have learnt to be better and be each other’s greatest fan. All of these due to a series of fortunate events!
It was drawing close to Christmas 2020, right amid mixed Coronavirus alert tiers around the country. We've been in lockdown for most of the year and not been able to travel anywhere, so it was a surprise when he decided that we go on a trip to Southampton, which had similar low restrictions to where we were. I thought nothing about it since I believed we were going to spend some time with his parents. However, the next morning after arriving in Southampton, he decided that we go on a hiking trip to Swanage. I didn't suspect anything, but I noticed he was a little frustrated that it had been raining all morning. Meanwhile in the background, more areas were being put into tighter tier 3 – 4 covid restrictions, and every day the restrictions was gradually creeping towards the south region we were visiting – at the time I didn't realise it was a race against time for him! As we approached Durlston Country Park in Swanage, the rain stopped but visibility wasn't so great. However, once we got to the park and we walked up to the cliff top, the clouds dissipated and there was a clear view of one the most spectacular view of the sea, hills, and a beautiful lighthouse. I was so captured by this that as we walked towards a clearing, I didn’t notice the one other ‘tourist’ taking in the sights as well. Then with my back turn to him, making to go down and run through the beautiful fields, he called for me, I looked back and I saw him on his knee. It was just so romantic and beautiful that I began to tear up. I was so filled with joy that I heard nothing of what he said, I just said YES! I also noticed from the corner of my eye that the ‘tourist’ was the photographer he had arranged for to capture this beautiful and miraculous moment that would remain etched in my memory forever. I can’t wait to see you witness the next chapter of our love story. See you in Marbella!
