We were both students at the University of North Texas and living it up in our college days. We had several mutual friends but never had the chance to meet until Alex's fraternity held their annual FIJI Islander event in April of 2015. FIJI was hosting a concert for the Ying Yang twins and we were introduced at the pre-concert party. We stayed close to each other for the rest of the event and after a lot of smack talk (on Alex's end of course), several foosball games and a few other competitions it was clear we were both comfortable being ourselves together. After that night we quickly became best friends and spent the summer nearly inseparable either at the pool, going out to eat at LSA, or hanging around the Denton square. In late August we ended up at the North Texas State Fair riding all the rides we could find and we both say that's the night we realized we had something special. Alex made it official asking me to be his girlfriend on New Years Eve of 2015 and the rest is history... until the proposal of course!
It took some convincing (I don't do well in the Texas heat), but with a little help from my family, Alex convinced me to join him for a walk around the Dallas Botanical Gardens. Little did I know, one of my best friends and now bridesmaid, Kristin, was already there waiting to catch the proposal on camera. As Alex walked around looking for the perfect place to propose, I kept pulling to the side trying to take breaks in the shade or move off the route he was heading. Finally, Alex knew he had to propose soon so he stopped along the path and got down on one knee to ask me to marry him!! I couldn't say yes fast enough and the moment couldn't have been more perfect! After the proposal, we headed back home and enjoyed time with our families before leaving for dinner all together. When we arrived at dinner Alex surprised me yet again by inviting some of our closest friends and family to celebrate with us!
