So here's the story...we first met our sophomore year at UW-La Crosse. We both lived in Eagle right down the hall from each other. When I walked into Alex's dorm room, I saw three dudes playing video games in a messy dorm room; typical guys. I didn’t think much of it at the time...but Alex did turn to his friends after I left. "Did you guys notice her eyes?" he said. Of course the guys responded with "no". I didn’t learn about Alex saying this until we started dating. He wasn’t going to act yet because he was in a long distance relationship, but he clearly was enamored with me. We started hanging out more through our mutual friend group our junior year and there was clearly interest, but he still wouldn’t ask me out! I had to ask him to go to the library before he decided to ask me out officially (Not one bit of studying was done that first night at the library). Alex took me to my favorite coffee shop in La Crosse for our first date. On our second date, he took me out for Friday night fish fry during lent. As the manager was walking around asking each table how the dinner was he said to us "you know, everyone who sits at this table gets married." Ha, right! But here we are 5 and a half years later...GETTING MARRIED!
Alex didn't exactly know how to propose and every time he thought he may be able to sneak away with me, plans changed or someone else was there. He wanted to be alone, so he sat on the engagement ring for 6 months! He was hiding it in his suitcase so he would have it ready if we were alone while traveling back to Wisconsin. But, he's messy, as I mentioned earlier about his dorm room; nothing's changed. He left his suitcase out in our living room for almost a week after Thanksgiving, so I took care of it. I cleaned his clothes out of the suitcase and was about to put it away when I noticed something in the small front pocket. So, just like how I had to ask him out first, I had to initiate the proposal as well. I opened the pocket and saw a small red box, I screamed "what is this!?" Shocked, and looking like a tomato since his face was so red, Alex didn't know what to do or say. Finally, after bawling my eyes out on the couch, Alex got up and said "well, no point in waiting any longer, Will you marry me?"
