Alex and I met one unforgettable weekend in Nashville, TN, during a music event. We were staying at the same Airbnb with mutual friends. I spotted Alex and immediately asked my friend, "Who is THAT!?" Little did I know, he was asking his friends, "whose girlfriend is that because surely she's taken". We hit up Broadway that night, and Alex completely transformed – cowboy boots, t-shirt tucked in, and I didn't even recognize him. So, when he started complimenting me, I thought he was just some random cowboy. Later, while heading out, we couldn't find our friend "Harris". We rode the elevator back up, chanting "Harris! Harris! Harris!" and when the doors opened, there was Alex! "HARRIS!!!" I realized, "No way! That cowboy just might be my future husband." The next night, we enjoyed more music and ended the evening on our Airbnb's rooftop. An empty seat next to me soon became occupied by Alex. He remembers me motioning for him to sit, saying it felt like that iconic "You can sit here if you want" moment from Forrest Gump. From there, our story practically wrote itself. We did long-distance dating for a bit while I still lived in Chattanooga, TN and he lived in Atlanta, GA. We would spend every bit of free time we had with each other. Our relationship always felt like home to me. A safe place we built where we could authentically be our most vulnerable selves. We moved in together during the pandemic, into our first home in N. Decatur (I always think of this home and how special it was for us). We tackled home projects, yardwork, and brought home our fur baby, Franky. Our bond grew stronger, and it didn’t take long for me to know I wanted to marry Alex. Sure enough on our 4th anniversary, he surprised me with a ring. He's kind, honest, gentle, and beyond adorable. He's made me softer, kinder, and more patient. Now, we’re in our second home, happily engaged, and planning our dream wedding. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of you!
