Take 1: We met in a Hungarian language summer camp in the early 90's. Matyi's mother and Saci remember each other from that time, but neither Saci nor Matyi remembers the other. Does this even count? Take 2: We met in Montreal, at a Hungarian folk dance workshop in February of 2007. We hit it off, and kept in touch between Cleveland and New Jersey, visiting each other several times over the course of the next year or so. But then Saci decided to move back home in December of 2008. Matyi and Saci continued to meet up off and on, as Matyi visited Hungary several times over the course of the ensuing years. OK, getting warmer.... Take 3: Matyi and the Cleveland Hungarian Scout Folk Ensemble (regösök) organized a tour of Hungary, Serbia, and Transylvania in July 2016. After several travel mishaps, Saci was able to join the tour for a weekend during their stop in Kazár, Hungary. The old cliché—"Third time's the charm" in English and "három a magyar igazság" in Hungarian—held, as this was the meeting that finally brought about a more serious relationship. After a month-long visit to Cleveland in October of that year, Saci moved to Cleveland permanently in March 2017. Matyi proposed on the second anniversary of their third meeting after a weekend on the Lake Erie islands, and Saci accepted joyously.
