Cody and I both grew up in Farmington. He was one year ahead of me and while we knew of each other, we never spoke a word to one another. And let me tell ya, nerdy high school Lauren and 'too cool for school' Cody never would have made it if we dated in those younger years. The summer after my freshman year of college and two weeks before going back to Moorhead, I went to my friends house for a bonfire. It was there that I saw Cody. After him getting dared to come and talk to me, we spent the rest of the night talking and hanging out. He had asked me out on a date for that week, knowing we only had 2 weeks together and never seeing it last as long as it has - Cody never wanted me to be in his house until he knew it was something serious. So after the movie we went to, we put tailgate down on his truck and talked until 4 in the morning when the sun was coming up again. That night, I saw 7 shooting stars sitting out there. If that wasn't a sign, I don't know what is. 2 years of long distance, lots of job changes, through a pandemic, buying our first house, getting our first dog, I am so grateful for everything that has happened that lead us here. High school Cody and Lauren would laugh in our faces knowing this is who we ended up with and they'd never believe it!
