Lanie and Ryan both met in high school as they went to Sacred-Heart Griffin Highschool in Springfield, IL. They were just friends and hung around the same group of kids up until they graduated in 2009. After graduation, Lanie, Ryan, and the rest of their classmates went their separate ways. Lanie attended college at Illinois State University and studied to become an nurse. Ryan attended The University of Missouri and studied business. After college, Lanie returned to home where she accepted a position working within the Springfield healthcare system. No one would hire Ryan in Springfield so he spent some time in Cincinnati, OH and Kansas City, MO before returning home in 2016 where he works as an insurance advisor. Lanie and Ryan began rekindling their friendship thanks to a couple of mutual friends/roommates.

Ryan asked Lanie to marry him on May 1st, 2020. It was perfect. He proposed in the botanical gardens at Washington Park right next to their new home! Ryan had a plan to propose in the Caribbean March of 2020, however this trip was cancelled due to a little virus that shall not be named.
