We met in October 2011 at a work event for the nonprofit board we both served on (so wholesome right?!). It was love at first sight for Jen…then a year and half later we went on our first date. Ryan took Jen to his favorite restaurant in Riverside, the Green Onion, where Jen promptly ordered the only vegetarian item on the menu, starting what would be a long journey of Ryan learning how to cook vegetables...but now he's a phenomenal home chef! In 2015, we moved into our first apartment together in South Pasadena and quickly learned each other’s taste in home décor. Ryan could use banana boxes for furniture and Jen likes way too many trays everywhere. We knew we would be together forever after surviving (and loving) our first international trip to Peru in 2016, with a 4-day trek through the Andes to Machu Picchu and 3 nights in an extremely small tent in zero-degree weather. The next few years were filled with travel to Italy, London, Croatia, Mexico, Canada, and all over the US for fun trips and many friends’ weddings. 2021 was a big year for us! We got engaged and moved into our first home in Orange County. Now we're just settling in to spend the rest of our lives together!
On February 20, 2021, Ryan proposed at one of our favorite places – the beach by Jen’s grandparents’ house on Naples Island in Long Beach. Jen was SUPER surprised thanks to Ryan’s meticulous planning and help from our best friends in putting together an amazing proposal picnic. She said YES! Then just three weeks later, we bought our home in Los Alamitos and (finally) got our first kitten together, Cat Stevens. We are so appreciative of all our family and friends who have made our relationship the best love story ever!
