One of our favorite parks! Whether you want a classic Washington beach or a characteristic PNW forest, Carkeek has everything. Check out the beaver dam in the marsh close to the beach!
We love Edmonds! Lots of fun shops to explore, including the amazing Rick Steves Store (we loved his books on our last Europe trip) and the wonderful Saturday morning Market. We love to check out seasonal produce and the kettle corn vendor who is usually there. Edmonds is also a great place to walk on a ferry and check out the town of Kingston while looking for whales along the way!
Emily worked here all throughout high school and college- she knows it like the back of her hand. Make sure to check out the young brown bears, mountain goats, and orangutans (Emily's favorites) and the red panda and lemurs (Ryan's favorites).
A great place to get outside and enjoy Seattle summer. The waterfront trail is especially fun- look for beavers and herons and kayakers while you walk over water! (Caution, it will be muddy on the waterfront if it's rained recently)
Emily's recommendation: Super Chicken Deluxe with tater tots and extra rosemary aioli. Ryan's recommendation: The Ragnar Club (but everything he's tried has been delicious!)
Dick's is an iconic, quick, cheap, Seattle institution. There are many locations around and all serve a very simple menu. Emily's recommendation: Hot fudge sundae with chocolate ice cream and fries Ryan's recommendation: Dick's Deluxe and chocolate milkshake
Seattle-style teriyaki is some of the best take out in the area. Our Saturday night routine- chicken katsu for Ryan and chicken teriyaki for Emily. Ichi Bento is our favorite for big portions and flavors.
Skip Starbucks and try a true local Seattle coffee shop! Best paired with a trip to Carkeek park.
