Last September, we were hiking the most beautiful trail in the breathtaking landscape of the Paiva Walkways in Portugal. Because it was raining a little bit, there were not many people there and it felt like we had the whole forest to ourselves. It was so spectacular and we were both in our happy place because one of the things we bonded over the most was our shared love for the outdoors and adventure. As we were hiking amongst the mountains, trees canopying our path, listening to the steady drum of the waterfalls, and feeling the drizzle on our skin as the wind tussled our hair, Ryan suggested we take a picture. He set his phone on a stair ledge and tried to take a timed picture but the wind was so strong it blew his phone down (and almost blew me off the cliff), unbeknownst to me that was his first attempt to propose (thank god it didn't work because the way the wind blew my hair I looked like a mad woman). The second time was the charm, and thankfully the wind had died down a little by then. He got his phone in place and I stood there smiling thinking it was just another photo but he was actually recording a video. That was when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was hard to tell the difference between the rain and the tears of happiness streaming down our faces, we were overwhelmed with emotions. It was a perfect moment, almost out of a movie. I guess you can take the boy out of Hollywood but you can't take Hollywood out of the boy.
