WHAT'S THE SIGNIFICANCE OF GYTHEIO? Gytheio, a second home to Christina's family, is a picturesque fishing town in the southern Peloponnese, where many of her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews live nearby. Once the port of ancient Sparta, Gytheio boasts beautiful beaches, including Mavrovouni, Selinitsa, and Skoutari. The town is lined with charming fish taverns and historic homes, and its central location makes it an ideal base for exploring nearby attractions like Limeni, Areopli, Monemvasia, Mystras, Kalamata and the Diros Caves. HOW TO GET FROM ATHENS AIRPORT TO GYTHEIO? Gytheio is approximately a 3-hour drive from Athens International Airport, mostly on well-maintained highways. You can easily rent a car at the airport, with several major rental companies available. It's recommended to book in advance, especially during peak season. For those driving, the route is straightforward via the national highway. Having a GPS or google maps on hand will make the journey even easier. Enjoy the scenic drive!

WILL TRANSPORTATION BE PROVIDED? We recommend renting a car from Athens airport, as you will need one to get to Gytheio and to explore the beautiful surrounding areas. On the night of the celebration, transportation will be provided from the hotels and Gytheio town to the wedding venue and back for your convenience.

WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE IN AUGUST? August in Gytheio is warm, with daily temperatures ranging from 80°F to 95°F. Thanks to the coastal breeze, it’s comfortable but definitely hot, so we recommend dressing for warm weather to stay cool during the day.

Question

o

Answer

WILL THE WEDDING BE OUTDOORS? The wedding will be outdoors, set on a beachside location. It will take place later in the evening, so while it will still be warm, it should be more comfortable by that time.

HAVE YOU RESERVED BLOCKS OF ROOMS AT ONE OR MORE HOTELS? Yes, we have! However, in typical Greek fashion, the room blocks won’t be available until January 2025. Be sure to check back here for updates and room rates. In the meantime, we also recommend exploring the amazing Airbnb options throughout the town, which offer a range of great places to stay.

Question

Answer

IS THERE A DRESS CODE? Night Before Party: For the night-before, we’re embracing a light and airy theme of white, creams, and linens. Wedding Day: While there's no strict dress code, we’d love for everyone to get dressed up and feel their best! Think formal but not black-tie—bring your most festive, stylish outfits that fit the beautiful, beachside setting. In Greece, weddings are all about going all out, so don’t be afraid to level-up your look! Men are encouraged to lean into the environment and break out their linen suits for a relaxed yet sophisticated look. It’s the perfect chance to wear your best, most vibrant, and celebratory attire with a touch of Greek flair!

Question

o

Answer

ARE MY CHILDREN INVITED? Yes, children are welcome! We will have a dedicated play space and fun crafts to help keep them entertained, but parents will still be expected to watch their own children. Please keep in mind that it will be warm, outdoors, and the celebration will go late into the evening. If your kids are up for the party, feel free to bring them along!
