- Panama's primary language is Spanish, but English is commonly spoken. There will likely be English speakers everywhere you go, so you're good. Not to mention they're nice to tourists and generally helpful if you have any questions. With this being said, we highly recommend downloading Google Translate for your trip in case you need additional assistance. - They take American dollars, yay!!! $$$$ - Casco Viejo is the safest and most popular neighborhood for tourists, we recommend exploring this area's restaurants and nightlife. - If you're a fan of coffee you need to check-out Panama's famous Geisha coffee. This is one of the most exclusive coffee's in the world and Panama is one of the few countries that produces this blend. Most coffee shops in Casco Viejo carry it, although we recommend showing up early (~9am) if you want to try a cup because they sell out quickly. Dang tourists! - If you like music, check out all the concerts happening on a weekly basis. They have everything from Jazz (very popular in Panama) to Salsa, Tango, etc. at the American Trade Hotel and other local venues. - Rooftop bars are popular hear, and for good reason. You get amazing 360 views! There are also several breweries and wine bars if that's more your scene. - Don't forget to enter the many cathedrals in Casco Viejo. They are gorgeous, and tell the rich history of Panama's many conqueror's over the years. Just be sure to cover up ladies! - The tap water is safe to drink. Look it up! In fact, Panama's water treatment system is pretty state-of-the-art making it one of the only Latin American countries where it's safe to drink the tap water.
