Just Married

Dear Family and Friends, After being together for seven years and engaged for over two, we decided to get married privately in our current hometown of Prescott, Arizona. We know that our decision to get married privately might come as a surprise to some of you, but we hoped you understand that it was the right decision for us. Although we didn't celebrate in the traditional way, we look forward to sharing our joy with you when we see you next. Our story began at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. We were both Resident Advisors, but strangely never spoke until mutual friends invited us on a camping trip. It was during this trip that we first connected, and shortly after, we embarked on our romantic journey. Biddeford became the backdrop to our blossoming love and holds many cherished memories from our first years together. Early on, we discovered a mutual love for travel. Within two months of dating, we embarked on our first vacation, crafting beautiful memories in a snowy Montreal during New Year's. After college, we quickly moved in together and lived in an old, renovated mill building, overlooking the roaring Saco River, in Biddeford, Maine. Casey’s job and Haley’s Master’s program required us to live separately for a year, but we didn't let the distance get in the way. Casey often made the two-hour drive from Lowell to Portland, relishing our favorite eateries. Haley reciprocated visits, cherishing the views of the Lowell skylines, not to mention the unforgettable incident of Casey's car break-in, resulting in the loss of his treasured Rachel Platten CDs. Casey proposed to Haley at Fortunes Rocks Beach in Biddeford on June 12th, 2021. A place that we frequently visited in college, and both hold close to our hearts. The engagement ring was designed and crafted by a favorite local jeweler who also made the “Maine Rocks” necklace often seen worn by Haley. Our journey led us through various apartments and states, culminating in our current home in Prescott, Arizona, shared with our beloved Bernese Mountain Dog, Appa and new puppy Azula. Our shared love for adventure led us to explore the wonders of our nation's National Parks. Haley's passion for these natural wonders became infectious, and together, we set a goal to visit all 63 parks. To date, we've explored 18 of them, cherishing each moment and creating unforgettable memories. The National Parks we've been fortunate to visit include Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, St. Louis Arches, Acadia, Zion, Lassen Volcanic, Wind Cave, Badlands, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Mesa Verde, Petrified Forest, Joshua Tree, Saguaro, Mammoth Cave, Hot Springs, Indiana Sand Dunes, Cuyahoga, Grand Tetons, and Death Valley. Next on our agenda is our honeymoon, an expedition spanning Hawaii's Haleakalā and Hawai'i Volcanoes National Parks, extending further to American Samoa. We can't wait to share this adventure with you all. As we stand together, now married, the path ahead holds both excitement and uncertainty. One option beckons us back to the familiar shores of Maine, where the comforting embrace of its landscapes and memories awaits. The other, a more adventurous prospect, proposes traversing the United States in the cozy confines of an RV. Each avenue promises its own set of discoveries, challenges, and opportunities for growth that we cannot wait to go through together. We understand that we owe much of our current journey to each of you.
