We understand our guests’ concerns regarding travel to Iceland but want to stress that it’s unlikely that the recent volcanic eruption will have any impact on your travels. On average, Iceland experiences a volcanic event every four years. Since the end of the last ice age a third of all lava that volcanos have produced on the Earth's surface has erupted in Iceland. Even just since Pink Iceland was founded in 2011 we’ve seen 8 volcanic eruptions (plus one sub-glacial one that we didn’t actually get to see). We commit to strictly adhere to all safety guidelines and directives issued by Icelandic authorities in response to a volcanic eruption or other similar events. Volcanoes are the creators of the island's breathtaking landscapes. The dramatic mountains, vast black lava fields, unique black sand beaches, geothermal pools, geysers, and yes, even the glaciers are all products of the interaction between volcanic activity and natural forces. So, while the news might sound alarming, we, the residents of Iceland, feel safe and continue our daily lives with confidence. Some of the world's leading scientists are closely monitoring the situation. If anyone feel unsure and want to follow it closely, please free to reach out and we'll provide more links and information for up-to-date details.

The short answer is yes! Alcohol in Iceland is heavily regulated and can be quite expensive. You can find alcoholic beverages in state-run stores called Vínbúðin, which have limited opening hours. If you plan to drink, consider bringing a few bottles in your luggage and buying alcohol from duty-free shops at the airport when you arrive, as they offer more affordable prices.
The official currency of Iceland is the Icelandic króna (ISK). When you visit Iceland, you can exchange your native currency for Icelandic króna in order to make purchases and can also typically use credit cards. Iceland is a popular tourist destination, and most businesses accept credit cards. Additionally, some smaller establishments or remote areas may only accept cash, so it's advisable to have some Icelandic króna on hand.
Our accommodations have hot tubs, so we encourage bringing a bathing suit
Iceland uses the standard Europlug socket with two round prongs. For these plugs, you can use adapter types “C” or “F”. These are often labelled as a Northern Europe adapter.
First, make sure your carrier offers international roaming or prepare to buy a sim at the airport to use data while in Iceland. Second, like most cell coverage, you can expect good reliability while in urban or populated areas but more spotty reception in more isolated environments. Plan ahead by downloading offline maps and needed information to avoid relying on network availability while exploring Iceland.
